हथेली hathelī[S. हःत+तल+इका], s.f. Palm of the hand;—an impression made by the palm of the hand;—a handful:—hathelībajānā, or hathelīpaṭkhānā, To clap the hands:—hathelī-par sarsoṅjamānā, 'To cause mustardseed to germinate on the palm of the hand'; (met.) to do anything quickly;—not to let the grass grow under one's feet;—to perform wonders; to astonish or surprise:—hathelīdenā(-ko), or hathelīlagānā, 'To give (or to apply) the palm' (to); to help, succour:—hathelī-kāphapolā, s.m. 'A blister on the palm of the hand';—a thing which is broken as easily as a blister on the palm; a fragile thing:—hathelīkhujlānā, The palm to itch (superstitiously regarded as a sign that money will come into it).
