िनषाद ni-shād, s.m. Name of certain wild aboriginal tribes in India (who are described as hunters, fishermen, robbers, etc.); a man of any of those tribes; a Bhīl, etc.;—a man of a degraded tribe in general, an outcast (esp. the son of a Brāhmaṇby a Śūdra woman;—also written niśād);—the first of the seven musical notes (or, more prop., the last or highest of the scale, corresponding to B of our scale).
