mahīb, vulg. muhīb (pass. part. of هاب (for هیب ) 'to be afraid' (of); said to be a contrac. of mahīb min-hu), adj. Fearful, dreadful, formidable, terrible, awful; grim; severe; grave; revered:—muhīb-ṣūrat, adj. Dreadful in form, of fearful aspect, terrible to behold.
