मन्दर mandar, adj. Slow, tardy, sluggish, etc. (i.q. mand, q.v.); large, bulky; thick, dense; firm;—s.m. Name of a sacred mountain (with which the ocean is said to have been churned by the gods and Asurs for the recovery of the amritand thirteen other precious things lost during the Deluge);—a name of paradise or heaven (svarga);—name of a tree of paradise, or one of the five trees in Indra's heaven;—mandarāćal (˚ra+ać˚), s.m.
