mǒtabar (pass. part of اعتبر 'to hold in high estimation or regard,' etc., viii of عبر 'to study; to examine; to try,' etc.), part. adj. Held in high estimation or regard, esteemed, honoured, revered;—respectable, creditable, reputable; worthy of confidence, trustworthy, confidential, relied on; credible; true; authentic—s.m. A respectable person; a trustworthy person (i.q. mǒtabar ādmī):—mǒtabar jānnā, v.t. To regard or consider as trustworthy, or creditable, or true, or genuine; to receive or admit as true, etc.
