मद mada, vulg. mad, s.m. Any exhilarating or intoxicating drink, spirituous liquor, wine, spirits (in this sense, also S. madyam; Prk. majjam);—intoxication, inebriety, drunkenness;—madness, insanity, frenzy;—ardent passion, love, desire; lust, ruttishness, rut (esp. of an elephant), lasciviousness, wantonness; sensual enjoyment;—passion, ardour; inspiration;—delight, rapture, joy;—pride, arrogance, presumption, conceit;—the juice or ichor that exudes from an elephant's temples when in rut;—semen virile;—musk:—mad-pīnā, adj.
