मारा mārā[mār, q.v. + Prk. अओ=S. अ+कः], s.m. A striking, beating; a blow, etc. (=mār); an attack (as on a fort, etc.), bombarding, etc.; a line (of fire); range or reach (of fire);—a violent and general destruction;—overwhelming profusion or plenty (of anything):—mārā-kūṭī, s.f. Beating and buffeting, etc. (=mār-kuṭā`ī, q.v.s.v. mār):—spoiling, ruining; blotting (a paper, in writing):—mārā-mār, or mārā-mārī, s.f.
