माधव mādhava, vulg. mādhav, mādho, mādhau (fr. madhu; lit.'made of honey, sweet; relating to spring, vernal'), s.m. An epithet of Krishṇ(Vishṇu), and of Paraśu-ram (as an incarnation of Vishṇu), and of a celebrated Hindūscholar, son of Māyaṇ; a proper name;—an epithet of the month Baisākh (April-May); spring;—(S. mādhavam) sweetness:—mādholatā, s.f. corr. of mādhavī-latā, q.v.s.v. mādhavī.
