लङ्काor लंका lankā, s.f. Name of the chief town in Ceylon (renowned as the capital of Rāvaṇa);—name of the island of Ceylon;—name of the place whence Hindūastronomers calculate longitude (which is, according to some accounts, distinct from Ceylon):—laṅkā-bhu`ār, and laṅkā-pati, s.m.=lankeśvar, q.v. below:—laṅkā-sthāyī, s.f. The plant Euphorbia tirucalli:—laṅkā-kānḍ, s.m. Name of the sixth section of the Rāmāyaṇ(which describes the invasion and conquest of Laṅkāby Rām-ćandra):—laṅkeśor laṅkeśvar, vulg. laṅkes (˚kā+īś˚), s.m. 'Lord of laṅkā,' an epithet of any king of Laṅkā, but especially of Rāvaṇ.
