लाठी lāṭhī[Prk. लिट्ठआ; S. यिƴका], s.f. A staff, stick, club, cudgel, bludgeon; crutch; mace:—lāṭhī-pāṭhī, s.f. Beating with a club or stick; mutual cudgelling, a fight with cudgels (=laṭhā-laṭhī):—lāṭhī-poṅgākarnā, To fight with sticks or clubs, to have a cudgelling match;—lāṭhī ṭek-ke ćalnāor jānā, To walk with the help of a stick:—lāṭhī-wālā, s.m. A man armed with a club or bludgeon, a club-man (such as are in the pay of zamīn-dārs, indigoplanters, and others, and employed to fight when serious affrays take place).
