कराव, or कराओ, karā`o[karā(nā)+ā`o= Prk. एअव्वं =S. (इ)तव्यं], s.m. The marriage of a widow with the brother (generally the younger brother) of the deceased husband (the custom prevails among the Jāṭs, Gūjars, Ahīrs, and other inferior tribes); concubinage; a mistress:—karā`o karnā, To marry a widow; to take a concubine; to keep a mistress.
