qur’a (for A. قرعة qur’at, v.n. fr. قرع 'to knock, strike, beat; to beat at drawing lots,' etc.), s.m. A lot (esp. one cast in the manner of the Arabs, by shooting arrows); drawing lots; the seeking to learn (one's) fortune by opening a book, etc., bibliomancy; cleromancy; wagering, a wager, bet;—something of wood, or bone, etc. which is caused to roll when an omen is taken; a die; a cast or throw of dice; a raffle; a ballot:—qur’a-andāz, s.m. One who casts or draws lots, etc.; one who throws dice (in a raffle, etc.):—qur’a-bāz, s.m. A thrower of dice, etc.:—qur’a-bāzī, s.f. The throwing of dice, etc.; raffling, a raffle:—qur’a pheṅknā, To throw dice; to throw in a raffle:—qur’a ḍālnā, To cast lots; to draw lots. T قرق qurq, vulg. quruq, quraq (prob. fr. A. قرق qaraqu, 'he put, or placed; he laid, or imposed,' etc.), s.m. An embargo; the act of seizing, attacking; seizure; confiscation, sequestration, attachment (in this sense qurqīis the more com. form in Urdu);—enclosure; prohibition, hindrance,prevention of access;—adj. Confiscated, sequestered, attached, distrained; forfeited:—qurq-amīn, s.m. An officer (of a law-court)employed to attach property in execution ofa decree and to realize the proceeds: a sheriff's officer, a bailiff:—qurq-paẕīr, adj. Liable to seizure; contraband:—qurq karnā, v.t. To seize or take in execution, to attach (property), to distrain, to sequester:—qurq-nāma, s.m. A writ of execution (=qurqī-parwāna):—qurq honā, v.n.
