`aāb (v.n. عذب 'to prevent; to deter'), s.m. Punishment, chastisement; pain, torture, torment; martyrdom (met.) difficulty, painful or troublesome affair or event, distressing affair:—`aāb mol-lenā, v.n. 'To purchase pain or trouble,' to bring difficulties or trouble, etc. on oneself:—`aāb-me panāor phasnā, v.n. To be involved in trouble, to be entangled in difficulties.
