`āriyat (for A. عاریّة `ārīyat, rel. n. fr. عارة `ārat, fr. ě`ārat, 'lending,' inf. n. of iv. of عور 'to take away'), s.f. Lending, or borrowing, a thing (which is itselfto be returned); loan (of a thing;—syn. udhār, māṅgā;—`ārīyatdiffers from qarẓ, inasmuch as in the latter term it is not understood that the identicalarticle borrowed is returned, but simply its equivalent):—`āriyat lenā, v.t. To take on loan, to borrow (for temporary use).
