tufail (dim. of tifl, q.v.), s.m. & f. A companion, a humble follower; a parasite; a glutton; one who uninvited accompanies one of the guests to a feast, one who sponges (in this sense said to be derived from Tufail, a poet of Kūfā, who was noted as a feast-hunter); cause, means, instrumentality, intervention (syn. wasīla; zarī`a):—tufail or tufail-se (kisī-ke), By means (of), through the merits or agency (of), etc.
