tifl (v.n. fr. طفل 'to be soft or tender,' etc.), s.m. An infant, a child; young (of an animal), youngling:—tifl-ě-uftāda, s.m. A foundling:—tifl-ě-shīr-ār, s.m. Sucking child:—tifl-ě-maktab, s.m. A school-boy; a tyro, a raw, inexperienced person.
