ःवामी svāmī, adj. & s.m. (f. -inī), Possessing proprietary rights, owning;—proprietor, owner; master, lord; sovereign, king, monarch; a lover, a husband; a spiritual preceptor; head of a religious order; name of the ḍanḍīfaqīrs or mendicants; epithet of the Supreme Being; of Vishṇu; of Śiva; of Kārttikeya; of Garuḍa;—(in direct address) your worship, your reverence (cf. sā`īṅ):—svāmi-bhakt, adj. Attached to one's own protector or husband:—svāmi-dharm, s.m. The duties specially incumbent on a master or a sovereign:—svāmī-droh, s.m.
