ःवाित svāti, ःवाती svātī, = H سوات ःवात swāt, s.f. An auspicious constellation; the star Arcturus (as forming the fifteenth Nakshatra or lunar asterism; name of one of the wives of the Sun; a sword:—swāt-būṅd or swāt, s.f. A drop of rain which, falling into a shell when the moon is in the fifteenth lunar mansion, becomes (according to popular belief) a pearl:—svāti-sut or svātī-sut, s.m. 'The offspring of Arcturus,' anything born or produced under the influence of Arcturus; a pearl (from the popular belief that, in October, when the sun's longitude corresponds to that of Arcturus, the drops of rain that fall into shells are converted intopearls; cf. swāt-būṅd).
