surḵẖāb, s.m. The ruddy-goose, Anas casarca (syn. ćakwā);—a species of lark:—surḵẖāb-kāpar lagnā(-meṅ), 'To wear a surḵẖāb'sfeather'; to be exalted, be advanced in dignity, to receive an addition of titles or honours (under the Mogul emperors the nobles of the court commonly wore a surḵẖāb'sfeather, whence the phrase); to be some great or wonderful man;—to do anything expeditiously:—sir-par surḵẖāb-kāpar honā, 'To have a surḵẖāb'sfeather on the head'; to be proud, to hold one's head high, be above (one's) work.
