sitāra[Pārsī śtār, śtāra; Pehl. śtār, śtārak; Zend śtare; S. ःतर् ], s.m. A star; fortune, fate, destiny;—a kind of firework (pl. sitāragān, 'stars'):—sitāra-peshānī, adj. Having a star in the forehead (a horse,—which is reckoned a blemish):—sitāra ćamaknāor ćamkāhonā(-kā), 'One's star to be shining brightly,' to be in good luck, to be prospering:—sitāra-dān, sitārashumāror shumur, and sitāra-shinās, s.m. An astrologer:—sitāra-shumārī, s.f. Counting the stars:—sitāra-shināsī, s.f. The astrological art; astrology:—sitāre-o-burj, s.m. The constellations and the fixed stars.
