सावन sāwan [Prk. सावणु; S. ौावणं], s.m. The fourth Hindūmonth, July-August (beginning when the sun enters Cancer: its full moon is near Śravaṇāor αAquilæ):—sāwanbhādoṅ, s.m. Sunshine and rain;—a kind of lattice-work;—a kind of firework:—sāwan-kījhaṛī, s.f. The constant showers of Sāwan:—sāwan hare na bhādoṅsūkhe, 'Flourishing in summer and not fading in autumn'; continuing in the same state or condition.
