Ʈार dvār, vulg. duwār, du`ār, s.m.f. Door, gate; doorway, gateway, passage, entrance, opening; access, way; vehicle, means, expedient, opportunity, medium (by which anything is effected):—dvār-pāl, dvār-pālak, or dvār-pālī, s.m. A door-keeper, gate-keeper, porter, warder (=darwān):—dvār-pālī, s.f. The business or office of a door-keeper:—dvārabali-bhuj, s.m. lit. 'Eating the offering (of food) scattered before the door'; the crane, Ardea nivea; a crow; a sparrow.
