दहल dahal (v.n. fr. dahalnā, q.v.), s.f. Shaking tremulously, shaking, trembling, quaking, tremor; fear, apprehension, dread;—shifting sand, quicksand, etc. (=daldal). (The name of Dahlīor Dehlīis said to be derived from this word; the ground on which the city was built being so loose and infirm that tentpins could not be fixed in it.)
