दण्डक danḍak, s.m. Stick, staff, pole, etc. (see danḍ);—a species of metre (the stanza of which exceeds twenty-seven, and may extend to two hundred syllables);—name of a district in the Dakkhan, between the Narbadāand Godāvarīrivers (which, in the time of Rāmćandra, was a forest, and celebrated as a place of pilgrimage);—the inhabitants of this district:—danḍakāranya (˚ka+ar˚), and danḍakvan, s.m. The Danḍaka forest (in which for some time Rāma resided;—see above).
