dastak, s.f. 'A little hand'; a handle; a knock or rap (at a door, etc.); clapping of the hands (com. with a view of drawing a person's attention);—a pass, passport; permit, license; a summons, citation, warrant, judicial writ, process; fee for serving a summons, etc.; commission; tax:—dastak bāṅdhnā, To incur needless expenses:—dastak ćiṭṭhī, s.f. Pass, passport, etc. (=dastak):—dastak denā(-par), To knock (at a door, etc.); to clap the hands:—dastak lagānā(-par), To fix or attach a summons, etc. (to a door, wall, etc.); to impose or levy a tax (on).
