िािवड drāviḍ, adj. & s.m. (f. -ī), Draviḍian, belonging to the Drāviḍas;—a Drāviḍa;—the Drāviḍpeople and their country (properly the coast of Coromandel from Madras to Cape Comorin, or the country in which Tamul is spoken; in a more general sense, the name is applied to four other countries, viz. Karnāṭa, Gujjarāt, Mahārāshtra, and Telinga); a Brāhman of Drāviḍa, or of the south.
