ḥamā`il (pl. of حمالة ḥimālator حمیلة ḥamīlat, rt. حمل 'to bear or carry'), s.f. Suspensory thong, or cord, or shoulder-belt (of a sword, etc.);—a necklace of flowers or of rupees;—a small Qǒr`ānsuspended to the neck (as an amulet):—ḥamā`il karnā, v.t. To sling across the shoulders (as a sword, or gun, etc.).
