ḥalf, vulg. ḥalaf (inf. n. of حلف 'to swear'), s.m. Swearing (by anything sacred); an oath:—ḥalf uṭhānā, v.n. To take an oath, make oath, to swear:—ḥalf-darog̠ī, s.f. False swearing, perjury:—ḥalf denā(-ko), To administer an oath (to), put (one) on oath:—ḥalf-se iz̤hār denā, To depose on oath:—ḥalf lenā=ḥalf uṭhānā:—ḥalf-nāma, s.m. A declaration on oath, an affidavit; a writtensolemn declaration by a person exempt by the regulations from being sworn in the ordinary manner:—ba-ḥalf, adv. On oath; by an oath (=ḥalfaṉ).
