झू ठा jhūṭhā[jhūṭh+Prk. अअं=S. अ+कं], s.m. Leavings of food, etc.=jhūṭh, q.v.;—adj. (f. -ī), Touched (by food), defiled;—lying, false; pretended, feigned, insincere, sham, hypocritical; groundless, imaginary; supposititious; delusive, illusive, vain; unsound, invalid; fictitious, invented, artificial, forged (as a document); counterfeit, not genuine; not pure, alloyed, base (as coin); failing of power, untrustworthy, useless (as a limb, a tool, etc.);—s.m. A false person, a liar:—jhūṭhoṅ, jhūṭhī, adv. Falsely, feignedly, hypocritically, in pretence, by way of sham, as a make-believe, as a mere matter of form:—jhūṭhe, adv. Uselessly, in vain, needlessly:—jhūṭhābanānā(-ko), To falsify, to belie; to prove false; to convict (one) of falsehood:—jhūṭhāpaṛnāor paṛ-jānā, v.n. To be proved false; to be convicted of lying;—to prove false or untrustworthy, to fail (one), to be powerless or useless (as a limb, a tool or weapon, etc.):—jhūṭhā-jhāṭā, jhūṭā-jhāṭā, s.m. Left food, offal, etc.=jhūṭhā, jhūṭh, q.v.:—jhūṭhā ćāṭnā, To eat leavings; to be very wretched:—jhūṭhādast-āwez, jhūṭhākāgaẕ, s.m. A false or forged document:—jhūṭhākarnā(-ko) = jhūtābanānā, and jhuṭālnā, qq.v.:—jhūṭhākhānā= jhūṭhāćāṭnā, q.v.:—jhūṭhāhonāor ho-jānā, v.n.=jhūṭhāpaṛnā, q.v.
