झूलन jhūlan (see next), s.f. Swinging, oscillating, etc.:—jhūlan-jātrā(cf. S. dolana+yātrā), s.f. A Hindūfestival kept about new moon in August in honour of Kr̤ishṇa and his mistress Rādhā. (Idols representing these personages are placed in a cradle or chair suspended from the roof of the temple or house and swung to and fro while offerings of fruits, etc. are presented. The Brahmans are feasted, and love-songs of the most indecent description are chanted all night. This festival is usually celebrated for five days and nights.)
