जवा jawā[S. यवकः], adj. & s.m. Of the size or shape of a barley-corn;—barley, etc. (=jau); a figure or mark (resembling a barleycorn) in the joints of the fingers (=jau); a clove of garlic; a kind of stitch in needle-work:—jau`ā, s.m. A kind of small grub or worm:—jawe-dār, adj. Made with golden bits of the size and form of a barley-corn (a chain, etc.); sewed with the stitch termed jawā:—jawā-khār, s.m.=java-khār, q.v.s.v. jau:—jawā-haṛ, s.f. A very small species of the yellow Myrobalan (haṛor halela).
