jalwa, jilwa, (rarely) julwa (for A. جلوة jalwat, fem., inf. n. of جلو ), s.m. Manifestation, publicity, conspicuousness; splendour, lustre, effulgence; displaying a bride (to her husband) unveiled and in all her ornaments; the meeting of the bride and bridegroom (in the presence of their relations); the ceremony (among Mohammadans) when the bridegroom reads a chapter of the Qor`ān, and for the first time sees his wife's face in a mirror (syn. ārsī-muṣḥaf);—the nuptial bed; the bridal ornaments:—jalwekāgīt, s.m. Epithalamium:—jilwa-kunān, adj. & adv. Clear, manifest, conspicuous, splendid;—conspicuously, splendidly:—jalwagāh, s.f. Place of manifestation or display, theatre; nuptial throne:—jalwa-gar, adj.
