jafā(v.n. fr. جفو ), s.f. (orig. 'roughness or rudeness,' but, by the Persians, used in the sense of) Oppression, violence, cruelty, injury, injustice, hardship:—jafā-pesha, jafā-jū, jafā-shě`ār, jafā-kār, adj. & s.m. Oppressive, tyrannical, unjust, cruel;—a tormentor, oppressor, tyrant:—jafā-kārī, s.f. Oppression, tyranny:—jafā-kash, adj. Enduring oppression or hardship; hard-working, energetic:—jafā-kafā, s.f.
