तुलसी tulasī, vulg. tulsī, s.f. The shrub holy basil, Ocymum sanctum (said to have been produced from the hair of the goddess Tulasī, and held in great veneration by Hindūs):—tulsī-phūl, s.m. Name of a superior kind of fragraṇt rice (so called from its smelling like tulsī);—tulsī-dāna, s.m. A gold ornament:—tulsī-dal, s.m. The leaf of the tulsīplant;—tulsī-dal ćaṛhānā(-par), To place or sprinkle tulsīleaves on the head of an idol or of a Brāhman:—tulsī-kāhīrā, s.m. A bead made of the wood of the tulsī.
