takya, s.m. A pillow, bolster, cushion; anything upon which one leans, prop, support; reliance, trust; the reserve of an army; a place of repose; the stand or abode of a faqīr:—takyadār, s.m. A faqīr, a dervish:—takya denā(-ko), lit.'To give (one) a pillow to recline against'; to receive with respect;—to lean or rest (upon or against):—takya karnā(-kā), To support, to encourage:—takya karnā(-par), To lean, rest, or recline (upon); to depend or rely (upon):—takya-kalām, s.m. An expletive; a needless word or phrase repeatedly or habitually introduced into speech (such as the English 'do you see'; 'do you understand,' etc.):—takya lagānā(-par), To lean (upon or against), etc.=takya karnā(-par):—takyanishīn, s.m.=takya-dār, q.v.
