बैंणव baishnav, baishnau [S. वैंणव], adj. & s.m. Of or relating to Vishnu;—a follower of Vishnu; a kind of vagrant mendicant (who bears the marks and insignia of Vishnu, and recites hymns in honour of his avatārs, especially in the forms of Rāma and Kr̤ishṇa):—baishnavottar (vaishnava+uttara), s.m. Lands granted rent free to the worshippers of Vishnu (especially to those of the mendicant order).
