भोग bhog (rt. भुज् ), s.m. Enjoyment, fruition; eating; use, application; usufruct, use of a deposit; utility, advantage, profitable aim or object; possessing, possession; cherishing, nourishing, protecting; suffering, experiencing; enduring, feeling, perception (of joy or sorrow), pleasure, satisfaction, gratification; suffering, passion; requital; abuse, rudeness, insult; any object of enjoyment, that which is eaten, food, victuals, repast; sexual enjoyment, carnal intercourse; dressed food offered to an idol; morning hymns, matins;—gain, profit, produce; money, wealth; hire, hire of dancing-girls or courtezans; (in Arith.) numerator of a fraction:—bhogādhikār (bhoga+adhikāra), s.m. Possession of the usufruct of mortgaged or pledged property;—bhog-ādhikārī, s.m. Possessor of the usufruct of mortgaged or pledged property:—bhog-bilās (bhoga+vilāsa), s.m. Luxurious living; sensual pleasure, amorous enjoyment, sexual intercourse;—bhogbilāsī, s.m. One who is addicted to luxuriousness, or to sensual pleasure, voluptuary:—bhog-bandhak, s.m.
