भंवर bhaṅwar [S. ॅम+रः; Prk. भंवरु], s.m. Revolution, gyration, whirl; whirlpool, eddy, vortex (syn. gird-āb); a large black bee, the humble bee; creeping plant, creeper:—bhaṅwar-jāl, s.m. (Met.), The world and its snares:—bhaṅwar-kalī(S. bhramara+kaṭa+ikā), s.f. A turning or movable ring attached to a rope (for confining an animal or thing); collar or halter (for a dog, goat, etc.); a swivel:—bhaṅwar-gīt, s.m.f. The songs which the cowherdesses of Mathurāaddressed to the bees:—bhaṅwar-meṅpaṛnā, v.n. To whirl round, revolve; to get into a whirl, etc.
