भःम bhasma, and H. भसम bhasam, s.f. Ashes, cinders:—bhasam-asnān (S. bhasmasnān), s.m. The act of smearing the body with the ashes of cow-dung:—bhasam-āsur, s.m. A certain demon who had the power to reduce to ashes any one on whose head he placed his hand:—bhasam-patrī, s.f. The hemp plant; gāṅjhā(a cant term):—bhasam-tikkā, s.m. Meat burnt or roasted on cinders, chop, etc.=bhas-tikkā, q.v.:—bhasam-ramānā, v.n. To rub ashes on the body:—bhasam-karnā, v.t. To reduce to ashes; to burn, calcine:—bhasmagarbhā, s.f. The sissoo-tree, Dalbergia sissoo, or a variety of it:—bhasam honā, v.n. To be reduced to ashes; to be digested, consumed, utterly destroyed, etc.; to be overcome with rage, be in a great rage.
