bhā`ī[S. ॅातृ कः; Prk. भाइओ], s.m. Brother; cousin; relative, kinsman; comrade, companion, class-fellow, member of the same caste, or fraternity; one connected by community of origin and joint interest in a common ancestral property; (in familiar phraseology) friend, my friend, dear, my dear (applied to persons of both sexes, and by children to their parents as well as parents to their children):—bhā`ī-aṅs, s.m. The share or portion of a brother:—bhā`ī-bāṅṭ, s.m. Brotherhood, fraternity; a term applied to a village owned by descendants (brothers) from one common stock:—bhā`ī-bat (S. bhrātr̤i-vat), adv. Like a brother, befitting a brother, brotherly, fraternal:—bhā`ī-band, bhā`ī-bandh, bhā`ī-bandhu, s.m. Brethren, kindred, relations, friends; comrades, people of the same caste:—bhā`ī-bandī, s.f.
