बोलना bolnā[bol˚= Prk. वोल्ल(इ), or लोल(इ); S. वद(ित), rt. वद्; or, prob. S. ॄूय(ते), pass. of rt. ॄू, corrupted to बूयर् (ते)], v.n. To speak, talk, tell, say, utter, pronounce, declare, give utterance to; to bid (at an auction); to cry (one's wares); to give forth sound, to sound, to bark (as a dog, etc.), chirp (as a bird, and the like, according to the animal); to strike (as a clock, etc.); to crack (with a sound), split, break; to be brisk or active (as a market):—bolnā-ćālnā, v.n. To converse, speak together:—bol-ānā, v.n. To leave word; to order (as goods, etc.):—bol-uṭhnā, v.n. To speak out, exclaim, cry out:—bol-jānā, v.n. To leave word (with, or at); to be proclaimed (on change), to be bankrupt; to be over, come to an end; to become; old or worn out, give signs of decay, etc.; to crack, split, break (as a vessel):—bolanhār, bolan-hārā, s.m. Speaker, etc.
