barakat, vulg. barkat (for A. بركة ), s.f. Increase, abundance, prosperity, blessing; good fortune, auspiciousness; inherent prosperity which produces success or abundance (the word is also commonly used in weighing grain, etc. in place of the number 'one'):—barkat denā(-ko), To grant a blessing, to give increase or abundance; to bless:—barkat honā, v.n. To be prosperous, to be complete or full; (and conversely) to have nothing to give save a blessing (e.g. when a beggar solicits alms, and is answered by barkat hai, 'there is nothing for you'; 'you have a blessing').
