ओढ़ना oṛhnā[oṛh˚= Prk. ओवेड(इ), fr. S. उपवेƴ], v.t. To cover with, to put on, wear;—s.m. (S. आवरण+कः), Covering, sheet, coverlet, quilt; a woman's sheet or mantle (covering the head and the upper half of the body):—oṛhnāutārnā(-kā), To remove the covering or veil (of); to expose, defame:—oṛhnāuṛhānā, v.t. To cover (one) with a sheet or mantle; to marry (since, among villagers, in marrying a widow a sheet or mantle is thrown over her):—oṛhnā-bićhaunā, s.m. Covering and bedding:—orhnāgale-meṅ ḍalnā(-ke), To throw (her) mantle on the neck (of), to seek justice against (in doing which, an insulted woman, in former times, used to throw her mantle round the neck of the man who insulted her, and dragged him to the king for justice).
