ऊन ūn[S. ऊणर् ], s.f. Wool; shaggy hair that may be woven;—gādar ānī ūn-koṅbaiṭhe ćare kapās, 'I bought the sheep for (its) wool, and it does nothing but eat the cotton' (a proverb used where that which is done by way of economy or profit turns out expensive or ruinous).
