ijmā` [inf. n. iv of جمع 'To assemble, collect'], s.m. Act of assembling; assembly; council; senate; court of justice; crowd; collection; amount; whole;—concurrence, agreement:—ijmā`i-ummat, s.m. General assembly or convocation of the people; unanimous consent:—ijmā`i-ṣaḥābat, s.m. The unanimous authority of the companions of Moḥammad on a point of law.
