आम ām, adj. Raw, uncooked, undressed; unripe; undigested;—s.m. Condition of being raw, etc.; provisions, victuals (undressed); sickness, disease, (especially) disease in the bowels, the mucous matter voided in dysentery (=āṅw, the common form):—ām-ātisār (S. āma+atisāra), s.m. Dysentery:—āmānna (S. āma+anna), s.m. Undressed rice, raw grain; uncooked provisions:—ām-bāt (S. āma+vāta), s.m. Constipation or torpor of the bowels with flatulence and intumescence;—a windy tumour, a swelling (without pain):—ām-śūl, s.m. Pain arising from indigestion; the colic.
